Chesaning traveled to Owosso to participate in the Owosso Volleyball Invitational and took home first place. In pool play the Indians finished 2-1-2 losing to East Lansing 24-25 24-25 while splitting with Leslie 18-25 25-24 and Stockbridge 23-25 25-23 and beating Owosso 25-22 25-8 and Ovid-Elsie 26-16 25-20. The Indians performance placed the Indians in 3rd place for pool play. In pool play the Indians defeated Owosso 25-19 18-25 15-9, Leslie 25-11 25-19 and in the finals beat East Lansing 15-25 25-20 15-12. The Indians were led by Erica Barta with 81 service points and 9 aces to go along with 102 assists, Sidnee Struck with 35 points and Katelyn Ferry with 21 points. Struck also had 26 kills and 21 blocks while Claire Greenfelder added 33 kills and 8 blocks. Ferry had 39 digs, Lauren Schirle 25 digs and Lilly Cooper 20 digs. “We played some of our best volleyball of the season, it was truly a team effort. Our decision making was good as well as our communication. I am very proud and happy for the girls that we were able to play so well and take home first place. It’s some good momentum going into district play.” Chesaning stands at 13-19-8 overall on the season and will take on Clio at Clio High School in first round of district action.
