JV boys got a win over Montrose 44-37 Thursday in the final game of their season. This game was a continuation of a Jan. 14th game in Montrose that had to be postponed when the lights/electricity went out in the second quarter, and Chesaning had a 19-11 lead. It was a physical game tonight where our shooting wasn’t up to par and we didn’t seem to get the breaks. We hung onto a gradually dwindling lead until the fourth quarter when Montrose was able to tie the game at 33 all with 2:57 remaining. I’m proud of the team for not losing their composure at that point, fighting through adversity, and inching back away from Montrose to pull out the win. Eli Escamilla led the team with a season- high 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Luke Walser had 3 assists. I’m also very proud of this young JV team (consisting of mainly freshmen) who were eager to learn and improved so much throughout the season. We finished out the season with a 11-5 overall record, and 11-3 in the conference.
