CHESANING INDIANS WIN A THRILLER, 44–40 The Chesaning Indians came away with an unforgettable 44–40 victory over Lakeville, scoring the game-winning touchdown with just two seconds remaining. What makes it even more memorable is honoring and remembering our soldiers who have fought and continue to fight for our rights. This was Chesaning's military classic and there were plenty of fireworks. In a back-and-forth, physical battle that lasted all four quarters, the Indians continued to fight until the final whistle. With Chesaning trailing 40–36 in the closing seconds, quarterback Juanito “Nito” Escamilla connected with Law Danek for the game-winning touchdown with two seconds left on the clock, giving Chesaning a 42–40 lead. The Indians followed it up by converting the two-point conversion to seal an electric 44–40 victory. It was a slugfest from beginning to end. Both teams traded blows throughout the night, but when Chesaning needed one final drive, the Indians delivered. OFFENSIVE STANDOUTS Chase Lopez powered the Chesaning rushing attack with 19 carries for 138 yards and two touchdowns. Lopez consistently moved the chains and gave the Indians a physical presence on the ground throughout the night. Juanito Escamilla completed 14 of 23 passes for 163 yards and four touchdowns, with all four touchdown passes finding Law Danek. Danek put together another huge performance, hauling in 10 receptions for 132 yards and four touchdowns, including the game-winner with two seconds remaining. With his four touchdown receptions, Danek tied the Chesaning school record for most touchdown receptions in a single game. The Indians also received contributions through the air from Braydyn Dilts, who caught two passes for 16 yards, Danny Tijerina, who had one reception for 10 yards, and Logan Vogelaar, who added a five-yard reception. On the ground, Evan Guymer carried four times for 18 yards, Damian Obuchowski had four carries for 13 yards, and Escamilla added seven carries for nine yards. DEFENSIVE BATTLE The Chesaning defense was tested throughout the night and continued battling against a physical Lakeville offense. Logan Vogelaar led the Indians with 13 total tackles, recording seven solo tackles and six assists. Braydyn Dilts was right behind him with 12 total tackles, including five solo tackles and seven assists. Peyton Heise finished with 11 total tackles, recording three solo tackles and eight assists. Keck recorded a touchback and launched a 55-yard punt through the air, helping Chesaning control field position in critical moments. A NIGHT TO REMEMBER This was a game that required Chesaning to battle for all four quarters. The Indians were tested physically, faced adversity, and continued to answer every time Lakeville challenged them. And when the game came down to one final opportunity, Chesaning delivered.
